Lansing – Today, Representative Shane Hernandez (R-Port Huron) praised his Michigan House colleagues for advancing the three bill package to help fix Michigan roads with strong bipartisan support.  HB 6013 (Hernandez), HB 6014 (Sheppard), and HB 6015 (Noble) all passed easily on Tuesday and are now headed to the Senate for consideration.


DISTRICT

State Rep. Shane Hernandez is a lifelong resident of the 83rd House District and was first elected in 2016 to the Michigan House. He represents the people of Sanilac County and Burtchville Township, Fort Gratiot Township, and the city of Port Huron in St. Clair County.

EDUCATION

Rep. Hernandez attended Croswell-Lexington High School and Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.

PROFESSIONAL

Rep. Hernandez worked as the Vice President of design at a small architectural firm in Port Huron. The Hernandez family is an active part of Port Huron First United Methodist Church, where his wife Renee works in the nursery and serves as Secretary of the Evangelism Committee.  Hernandez is chair of the church’s Digital Media Committee and President of the Methodist Men’s Group.

Hernandez is a conservative Republican who believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility and individual liberties, which begin at conception with the right to life.

PERSONAL

Hernandez grew up in Croswell and now lives in Port Huron with his wife Renee and two children, Kelsey and Kara. Hernandez credits his family upbringing for his conservative principles. His father, Salvador Hernandez Jr., worked his way up from general laborer to boiler operator at the Croswell pickle factory.  Hernandez witnessed firsthand that hard work and determination can lead to success.
